Sun advice from Lancaster

Safe tanning with Lancaster

Lancaster was founded in 1946 in Monaco and has been the undisputed number 1 in our country for years in the field of luxury sun care. This is thanks to the continuous search that the scientists in the Lancaster Laboratories embark on every day to develop the very best products that protect our skin from the sun, restore it after sun exposure, but also give us quickly the coveted golden brown tan we all long for. All this in combination with a multitude of different textures and protection factors, so that you can choose the sun product that best suits your needs to fully enjoy the sun!

Lancaster is now completely clean & ocean friendly. The products are formulated based on vegan and biodegradable ingredients. The water-resistant formulas do not contain burdensome filters such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, homosalate, or nanoparticles and are formulated with respect for the coral. The sun filters are not water-soluble and reduce the impact on the marine ecosystem, as Lancaster uses 25% fewer sun filters, without compromising effectiveness.

One of Lancaster’s greatest innovations? The Advanced Full Light Technology, present in all Lancaster sun care products, targets 100% of the sun spectrum* (UVA and UVB rays, visible light, and infrared rays) and is now improved with additional protection against blue light. Het nieuwe Sun Repair System helpt bij het herstel van de huid na zonbeschadigingen en richt zich op het voorkomen van vroegtijdige huidveroudering.

Of course, the products still contain the iconic Tan Activator Complex, which is known for stimulating the production and even distribution of melanin in the skin. This results in a radiant, even, and long-lasting golden-brown tan in half the time**, even for skin that doesn’t naturally tan easily.

UV-index
The total amount of UV at the ground at noon is called sun strength, internationally also known as the UV Index. In our country, this can range from 0 to 8. At 0 there is no UV, and 8 represents the maximum amount of UV rays. In countries closer to the equator and in the mountains, the UV index can reach a value of 15 or higher. The table roughly shows how long the skin of an average Dutch person can handle the sun at midday for a certain UV index. For those who burn easily, that time is shorter. The times listed indicate after how many minutes unprotected skin turns red according to KWF Cancer Control. That’s the maximum for those who want to sunbathe safely.

Invloed op zonkracht
The higher the sun is, the higher the UV index. In summer and between 12:00 and 16:00, the sun is higher. Heat doesn’t have any effect. On a cool, sunny day, the sun can sometimes be stronger than on a warm day.

The more clouds, moisture, or air pollution, the lower the UV index. However, a lot of cloudiness provides at most the same protection as SPF5. Therefore, use daily sun care to protect your skin.
